Tees Valley Nature Partnership Shoot

Tees Valley Nature Partnership Shoot

20/06/24, 22:45

Last week, Fly Films UK visited some of South Teesside’s most picturesque spots to shoot footage for Tees Valley Nature Partnership and Tees Nature Conference 2024.

The full day shoot began at 5am and covered multiple locations including Ormesby Hall, Roseberry Topping, and Billingham Beck. Our early start allowed us to capture the wildlife and landscape of Teesside undisturbed by the general public.

We focused on using drone-mounted cameras to produce beautiful aerial shots of Wynyard Manor Park and Ormesby Hall, carefully navigating the drones through the canopy to produce beautiful meandering shots of the park's various rivers and footpaths.

While shooting a time-lapse of the sun rising over Roseberry Topping, we noticed that the sun’s brightness had silhouetted the hill and filled the shot with harsh glare. To overcome this, we darkened the overexposed sky timelapse and blended it with a static image of Roseberry Topping, which we brightened. Stacking images in this way, for greater dynamic range, ensured we captured the details of both the sky and landscape.

For close-up shots of flowers and insects, we experimented by placing a macro lens on a slider to achieve an effect similar to a dolly zoom.

The final video is a relaxing montage of the landscape of South Teesside, interspersed with close-ups of wildlife and nature, featuring audio field recordings, and was featured in the Tees Nature Conference.
